DESCRIPTION:Fall Lake Clean Up!\nNOTE: Our lake cleanup is designed for lake debris\, NOT household or personal debris or trash. No dock remnants will be accepted. \nThe dates for this year are:\nSeptember 5-8.\nOn Tuesday through Friday\, participants are encouraged to work independently whenever they wish.\nAll trash should be taken to the Morganton Point boat ramp as we have done in the past. A corral will be constructed adjacent to the ramp and all floating trash should be deposited inside the corral to insure it does not float away. Bags of trash may be placed on the shoreline to insure they do not float away. \nOn Saturday\, September 9\, all participants are asked to gather at the Morganton Point boat ramp at 9:00 am for a quick meeting and lake area assignments.\nWe will have industrial dumpsters available as well as a front end loader to lift and load all accumulated trash into the dumpsters.\nAll boat Captains who gather on Saturday morning will receive a gift certificate to the Dock Bar & Grill. (One gift certificate per boat) \nWe need:\n– Pontoon boats – we desperately need pontoon boats\n– Volunteers (you!)\n– Bring sunscreen\, hat\, water\nThe TVA has given us a supply of work gloves and trash bags.\nQuestions? SUMMARY:42nd Annual Labor Day BBQ & Gospel Music Show
DESCRIPTION:Three day event. Monday is the big event with BBQ & Music. \nSaturday from 9 to 4\, visit the PIC-NIC-NAC in the Park. Local artists and crafters sell their creations\, area nonprofits share their information and classic cars may even be on display! Concessions available in the park include Bar-B-Q sandwich plates\, bottled drinks and snacks. So plan to picnic and stay awhile. \nSunday at 6 p.m. join us in the park for Good Sam’s interdenominational worship service and congregational singing. Stay a while to visit with folks and to enjoy an old-fashioned ice cream social provided by our local Dairy Queen. \nMonday\, Good Samaritan hosts their 42nd Annual Labor Day Bar-B-Que served with local Blue Grass and Gospel Music. Just follow the smoke or follow the signs to find the park and ticket booths. Meals are served from 11:30 to 6:00…unless we run out of food. Weekend guests and cabin folks checking out can enjoy music and barbecue and even shop downtown before heading home. \nYour BBQ plate comes with all the fixins\, a bottled drink and a locally grown apple from Merciers Orchard (located just up Highway 5). Choice of meat for your meal would be St Louis Style ribs\, pulled pork sandwich or one half chicken. You can stay to enjoy your meal in the park on a picnic table under the tents or use the convenient drive-thru to take meals home for your family and guests. \nBring your lawn chair and plan to stay a while. \nNo presale of tickets this year\, tickets may be purchased at the event. \nVisit goodsamfc.com for more info about our ministry\, volunteer opportunities and Good Sam events during the year as well as the list of participating churches for advance tickets and/or to visit while you are in town!
